Retreat at Claymont, March 9-11, 2007 |
| Our retreat was a great success here
are some photos and comments:

- One month after the retreat, I am still having difficulty
muttering
words to describe the sensation ... sweet, graceful, gentle,
blissful,
surreal. The dreamlike memory has transformed into a little
sacred
fountain of energy to cleanse the distractions in my daily
life. It
brings to surface potentials that I have never dreamed of.
Thank you so much, my dear Frances.

- For me the retreat experience was pure magic and I eagerly
look forward to the next one. What a wonderful community you
have created and I feel privileged to have found it and to
share in all that is offered. The retreat allowed me time to
focus on exploring my body, mind and spirit and I found it
both soothing and exhilarating to have such a block of time
in which to be guided by such a wonderful teacher amongst others
on their own journeys. There were many challenges – observing
periods of silence and practicing restraint from (or at least
mindfulness of) falling into our usual/customary social interactions
(exchanging our “stories”) chief among them – but
in this setting it was a joy to stretch my mind, body and my
spirit in new ways.
I relished the luxuriously long yoga practice
sessions and found myself able to do things I haven’t even
imagined (handstand) – at
least not since I was a child.
The flow of the weekend
was lovely – and clearly reflected
your experience and knowledge of what your students needed – I
am amazed at how naturally you take us from one thing to the
next – clearly
there is a plan, but you manage to be responsive to the varied
needs of the community. And, the music of your husband, son
and Rufus was joyous and a lovely way to come together after
a rigorous day of yoga.
Needless to say, I hated to see the
weekend come to an end – but
am keeping the spirit of the weekend with me through my daily
practice and continued work in class.

- How does one capture the laughter, the camaraderie, the length - not to
mention the intensity - of each session, the aching limbs, the wonderful
music and chanting, the delicious food…and oh so much more that was part
of the retreat?
After every yoga class I am continually struck by Frances’ perfect
sequencing, her impeccable timing, her brief commentaries on the spirit
and/or body as we meditate or stretch in to a pose, and the most
inspiring of all -- her amazing breadth of ‘asana’ knowledge.
Translation – there is nothing monotonous about class with Frances.
Then, multiply all of this by 8 sessions of 2-3 hours each (including
the morning pranayama and evening yoga nidra/chanting) and I found
myself in yoga heaven.
The weekend retreat with Frances, allowed me to experience the
difference a consistent yoga practice can make to my body, mind and
spirit -- it was truly a gift to myself.
Thank you Frances!

| We all had a great time. Most of us felt we
discovered a sense of community we all needed as well as made powerful
strides in our Yoga practice. The retreat emphasized a meditative
approach that attempted to focus the mind so that the heart could
open.
