Acupuncture is a safe and effective healing modality that originated
in China over 4000 years ago. Acupuncture is an important part
of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), which also includes herbal
medicines, tuina massage and exercise therapies.
Acupuncture involves stimulation and balancing of the body's
vital energy called Qi (chee). Flowing through channels or "meridians"
in the body, Qi is accessed by tapping into specific points along
these meridians. By stimulating the Qi through these points, imbalances
in the flow of Qi can be smoothed and healing effected.
There is a saying in Traditional Chinese Medicine, "Where there
is pain, there is no free flow of Qi". Proven in certain clinical
trials to alleviate post-operative tooth pain and low back pain,
acupuncture has shown itself also to be effective in treating
conditions as varied as insomnia, depression, anxiety, menstrual
and reproductive disorders, asthma and the common cold.
An initial acupuncture visit takes from 1 1/2 to 2 hours and
consists of health history, pulse and tongue evaluation, TCM diagnosis
and acupuncture treatment. Follow up treatments may take between
45 minutes to one hour. Non-needle treatments such as moxibustion
(heat treatments), electrical stimulation and cupping may also
be employed, in addition to acupuncture.
The number of treatments required will vary according to your
condition. Most conditions require between eight to ten treatments
to feel the full effects. The effects of acupuncture will depend
on your body's response.

Julie Singer Sedell, B.A., L.M.T.
Greetings! I am a licensed Massage Therapist with over ten years of experience specializing in pain relief and stress reduction therapies which allow my clients to feel better, have more energy, and function at their most optimal level to help them pursue that which is most important to them in their life.
I have been at the Sacred Well Healing Center since 2001 and also worked for the Four Season's Hotel's Fitness and Massage Therapy Center for eight years massaging such notables as King Abdulla and Queen Rania of Jordan, Gene Hackman, Burt Backrack and Kristin Davis. Additionally, I have worked in Chiropractic offices and at an alternative health care clinic where I was doing in-depth therapies for chronic pain patients and people with low energy and fibromyalgia.
My hours of availability are:
-
Mondays 11:00 am to 8:00 pm
-
Wednesdays 9:30 am to 8:00 pm
-
Thursdays 9:30 am to 8:00 pm
-
Friday 9:30 am to 5:00 pm
-
Sunday 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm
An hour of massage or bodywork costs $85.00 and an hour and a half is $115.00.
Each session is individually tailored to meet the client's needs. Therapies available include:
Massage Therapy (Deep Tissue, Myofascial Release, Swedish): Full body massage provides a deep feeling of well-being. It prevents injuries and is a wonderful restorative therapy when received on a regular basis.
Cranio-Sacral Therapy (CST): From the Osteopathic tradition, CST directly impacts the nervous system and can provide profound releases. Clients are very relaxed after a session.
Lymph Drainage: This gentle and rhythmic massage along specific pathways reinforces and even re-establishes the natural flow of lymph in the body which can be disrupted from injuries or surgeries. Proper flow of lymphatic fluid is essential to prevent the painful build up of fluids which also impedes oxygen and nutrients from reaching tissue cells. Wounds heal faster when the build up of lymph is reduced. Although the work is light, it is very relaxing and immediately reduces swelling in acute (recent) injury or surgery areas.
Visceral Manipulation (gentle organ massage and loosening of surrounding tissues): Posture problems, excessive emotional stress, surgeries and physical injuries can cause tension in the abdominal area. Manipulation is very effective in relaxing the body and preventing potential problems.
Zero Balancing (Structural Acupressure): Developed by an Osteopath, Zero Balancing is both relaxing and energizing. It gently aligns the joints of the body so that gravitational forces can move through the system with greater efficiency. No longer fighting gravity with every step, clients have more energy, and often feel taller, lighter, and a whole body-felt sense of integration after a session.
Prior to completing my massage training at the Baltimore School of Massage in 1996, I earned my Bachelor of Arts, graduating with distinctions, from the University of Wisconsin at Madison in 1991 with majors in International Relations and two languages. I also hold a second degree black belt in Taekwon-do.
I look forward to being a member of your wellness team!
